The ones that got away – November 2012

For every photo that makes it on here, there are literally 50-100 that don’t. Here is a collection of some of the ‘near misses’ for the month, with a little description of why they didn’t.

From the bubbles series. Standing alone it’s hard to know I think that it’s a big bubble that has just popped. It’s OK but not great.

Guys on the way to the beach. Blurry and not enough interest. The guy in the sunglasses was what made me take the photo in the first place.

Dog tied up whilst owner has a beer inside. Thought it was a good shot but it’s just OK.

I really like the ‘look & feel’ of this shot, but i’ve cut off the woman on the left and I was hoping to get the ocean in the picture top-right (that’s what they’re looking at).

Great moustache, bad framing and blurry

Too wide an aperture. Should be showing more detail through the shot.

Dog-caddy. Interesting but not much else

Liked the stripes and polka-dots. Woman on right looking away detracts from scene, probably should have shot vertically…

Hens party, blow up doll with penis. Funny scene but not much else

Trying to divide the scene. Left-hand side too dark. Thought poodle and owner looked similar hair-wise.

Liked the tie over the shoulder. Don’t like the guy looking at the camera!

Shot from the hip, framing off. She had this ‘Jesus’ pose with arms outstretched holding on to the bars and the full-white dress. Interesting subject but the framing detracts.

Happy tourist couple. Exposed for the highlights leaving their faces way too underexposed.

Flare. Framing. Blurry.
