It is very tempting! Because Sony make the Nikon D800/E sensor I have no doubt it will perform as well or if not better in the DxOMark tests. Pricing I think is spot-on too. The only reason why I wouldn’t upgrade (and this is just me) is that I shoot exclusively 35mm at the moment, so if I got the A7 I’d be taking the 35mm off the Leica and using it with an adaptor, and so iI’m wondering what tangible benefit I’m getting over the RX1 and its fixed 35mm lens?
I do love the built in EVF and 36MP on the A7r in such a small body is just phenomenal! If I start wanting to use different focal lengths I’d definitely upgrade.
The great thing about Sony – first with the RX1 and now with the A7/r is that it will force other manufacturers to release small ff ILC bodies – I’m particularly interested to see how a ff Fuji with the X-Trans sensor will compare!
It sounds like the A7/r is what you’ve been waiting for? Early Christmas present Lignum? 🙂
If I jump, it’ll be for the A7r. I would prefer to handle one first before buying though so maybe in the new year when the supply might meet the demand.
I may need to buy a new computer and larger hard drive first to handle the files. 🙂
haha – you do know that Apple are just about to announce a new Mac Pro desktop for just that purpose? 😛
Hi. Any initial thoughts on whether you’ll trade in the RX1 for the A7? 🙂
I must admit I’m tempted by the A7, if it’s all it’s touted to be.
