This is Fraser Island

Beautiful, isn’t it? This is why people come to Fraser Island – for the sand and the sea. This beach is on the east coast and goes on like this for – wait for it – 120km (75 miles)!

Fraser IslandFraser Island is a four-wheel-driving mecca because the entire island is accessible to 4WD’s and you can drive along up to 80km/h on the beaches. We rented an old 4WD and here is Mum trying to replicate the Toyota ‘O whata feeling’ commercial – in front of a Nissan!

O what a feeling

O what a feeling

Stumbled upon this guy near Lake McKenzie. Dead ring-in for Santa, don’t you think? Cracking beard. “Is that real?” I asked, referring to the beard. “Yes, the belly is all natural.” he replied. 🙂

2 sleeps to go!

Standing alone

I’m up on beautiful Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island, courtesy of Mum for my 30th Birthday. Mum & I arrived yesterday and drove up the east coast, cut across the middle of the island after spending some time at pristine Lake McKenzie before overnighting in Kingfisher Bay Resort which is nestled in the bush overlooking the beach on the western side of Fraser.
